Spektor lens

Striking beauty in this conversation with Regina Spektor ... just as one would expect! Massive kudos to the lovely interviewer... Taza!

On performing: "It’s really really really good. [laughs] I don’t know - it feels kind of like a shower or something. Cause it just kind of pours over you in this way, it feels so positive and just, really great. Shows feel like everybody’s going through something together. And then there is this atmosphere that happens or this world that happens and only the people that are there really understand it…"

On what she wants in life: "I guess just all the things that everybody wants: To feel like they’re actually doing something and not just reenacting the same thing over and over, and not getting stuck. Just opening your mind and seeing more of the world and trying to understand how people live and what they think. All that stuff that will sound really fluffy and disgusting if you write it down. Just be part of the world. Really really live. You know? One of my big goals is to just not do things out of fear but [to] be really open, which is hard I think. It’s a full time job for people to stay really open. It’s like a second job. But also - I don’t think it’s good to just do one thing. I don’t think if you’re a musician you should not just be immersed in music. I think it’s really important that if you’re a musician [to] try writing a play or something. Things need to complete other things."

And the best news of all, on the future: "I’ve been writing music for a Broadway show…"
Can't wait to see that.

Daydream believers

Colorado Balloon Classic - Day 2 , originally uploaded by iceman9294 . “Some people do not have to search, for they find their niche early in life and rest there seemingly contented and resigned. At times, I envy them but usually I do not understand them… And seldom do they understand me. I am one of those searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we completely content. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach; we are drawn to the ocean, taken by its power and unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests, mountains, deserts, hidden rivers, and lovely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as our laughter. We are ambitious only for life itself and for anything beautiful it can provide. Most of all, we want to love and be loved, to live in a relationship that will not impede our wanderings and prevent our search. We do not want to prove ourselves to other

Heights of Reality in the UAE

Aside from ( double Disney) Dubailand , it is quite easy to locate a bold philosophy within the inspiration for many of the UAE's newest structures. Perhaps claims of Islamic inspiration a bit stretched with one of the main principles, "avoiding extremes so as to maintain balance and orderliness..." But then again, if you look at the region's dreams of rebuilding the future and the world as we know it, Dubai will host plenty of places to celebrate Islam's essence, which "enables man to lead a good and happy life and at the same time strengthens bonds of human brotherhood and fortifies the social fabric." I find it fascinating to watch so many levels of fantasy coming to life, so quickly. Several inspiration quotes appear in the captions below. Hydropolis , the world's first luxury underwater hotel, "where those who do not dive, or do not even swim, can experience the tranquility and inspiration of the underwater world." Burj Dubai ,
