Your turn

And when you stop and think about it you won't believe it's true, that all the love you've been giving has all been meant for you.  The Moody Blues (written by Justin Hayward)

Augustine of Hippo

You aspire to great things? Begin with little ones. Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are. - Augustine of Hippo

For Lauren, My Sunshine

"Waiting for the sunshine:)" - by N-A-N-A on Polyvore.com As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people the permission to do the same. ~ Nelson Mandela (1994 Inaugural Speech)

Brave Heroes of the World

"Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them." Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 - 1882) Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Peter replied, "We have left everything to follow you!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus, "no-one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first." Mark 10:27-31

Stop Drop and Roll

"The days come and go like muffled and veiled figures sent from a distant party, but they say nothing, and if we do not use the gifts they bring, they carry them as silently away." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be great, we must first, and always, be grateful

Bollywood Baby!

Just wanted to quickly share a few sweet words from a few joy-filled instructors I was pleasured to meet and practice with last weekend. The first, Hemalayaa.... such a radiant soul! "May love lead you to the joyous dance of life" "A healthy mind, a healthy body, a joyous life, flow from an open heart."

Painting by Annick McKenzie What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others. -Pericles (attributed)

Mental Construction

"Learning how to think really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think ...being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to...how you construct meaning from experience." - David Foster Wallace addressing the graduating class of Kenyon College

For my sisters...

"There is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but an expansion, an interpretation, of one's self, the very meaning of one's soul." - Edith Wharton

Manic Monday?

With the financial rollercoasters moving in high speed today, I found myself glued to the tube until these words below hit my inbox. This touching story from Cat, who writes for a London fitness group called SuperChicks really highlights the way her grandfather chose to spend his time generously , and always pay attention . Heavenly currency. Sadly, he passed on Saturday - but what a rich man. And what a striking reminder to back assets with treasures stored above. They never fade. For Christmas my Grandfather bought me a compass, yes, a compass(!) to go in my car. It sits on my dash board so I know which direction I am going. On Boxing Day he sat with me in my car lining up the poles and checking that my new acquisition was telling the truth. My Grandfather was the most selfless person I know. In my whole life I cannot ever remember him doing anything for himself. He would always be busy finding something out, working something out, building something -he practically changed the enti

Lotus Notes

"A lotus flower rises above the water, untouched by its impurities. Similarly, through meditation, a person can live in this miserable world untouched by its anxieties." - Jagad Guru "We can make our minds so still like water that beings gather about us, that they may see their own images, and so live for a moment with a clearer, perhaps even with a fiercer life, because of our quiet." -William Butler Yeats

bon voyage

There are so many places a soul can land as this massive world continues to expand. Although life is moving very quickly I absolutely cherish this chapter, soaking in the most panoramic of perspectives...!

Vroom

At last, a car to love! I was on the prowl for this one: Tommy says his jetski has a bigger engine, but I'm ok with that. If either were amphibious, perhaps we could race. How nice it feels to hit the streets again!

Now or never

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin. - Mother Teresa If someone's burden was lightened today because of you the day was well spent, eternally invested.

Ninety 2 Nothing

As Gandhi proclaimed, " happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony "... Oh to live deeply, finding success in channeling our energy more effectively! The words below hit home with their reappearance in my inbox last week. Images and faces we see each day are a vivid reminder of the abundance of opportunities and the lifespan of influence. Frequently I hear the voice of Jim Parker echoing a piece of wisdom he blessed me with in 2002, "at any time, we can easily be placed for just one person". We could be at school, in a city or an office, on a trip, or in this world for just one person. Is anybody happier because you passed her way? Does anyone remember that you spoke to her today? Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that's slipping fast, That you helped a single sister of the many that you passed. Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said; Does the girl whose hopes were fading, now with courage look ahead?

Blessed Passerby

oh one on this path, how happy i am you spotted me here, for i just stopped to encourage you dear. this route you are on hosts doubt questions and tears. greet each with silence and embrace what's near. awaken a place within to observe all that's true. absorb grace as it surfaces, Heavenly granted and due. miraculously we've arrived amidst so many blessings to pursue. hold on tight to places you came from, seeking places prepared for you. remain open, hosting the spirit to shine, grow, and roam. with open eyes, mind, and ears, as each step returns home. you were designed to walk this path - so there's no need to rehearse. no one else holds your significance in this universe. (from thoughts observed @ yytt graduation)

Magically Unpredictable

Shiva Rae is at it again - creative, innovative, and surrendered - such a wave. Amazing how divine design take it's course when given the cue. "Being an artist is dragging your innermost feelings out, giving a piece of yourself, no matter in which art form, in which medium." Henry Rollins True love comes to those who wait; it comes so much faster to those who take a chance. Thus, I don't chase my dreams; I chase my God, the designer my dreams.

Reconcile

"And that night, before I went to bed I said a prayer of my own. It's a prayer I think I share with a lot of Americans. A hope that we can live with one another in a way that reconciles the beliefs of each with the good of all. It's a prayer worth praying, and a conversation worth having in this country in the months and years to come." -BHO

the only way out is within

Waters were finally calm today, celebrating the bday on lovely Lake Austin , what a treat. One action encourages the other, heals, detoxifies and electrifies the body and mind at their deepest levels.

Purpose Proservation

Traveling often for work now, I credit in-flight entertainment for slowly bringing me back with the times, as I tap into the TV deficit show by show, film by film. Flying back from Gatwick yesterday I was amazed at how much the Biographies in particular demonstrate the immense challenge of not allowing what we do to become who we are. On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you. And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green, and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight. When the canvas frays in the currach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home. May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work t

To be or not to be. That's not really a question.

... love that Jean-Luc Godard quote Craving a detox of heart and mind, I was very grateful to listen as Sadani recited the following poem at YYTT over the weekend. To me, it's a message of simplicity, aiming to clear our hearts for receiving so that we always have capacity to give. Sadani beautifully states that acceptance of these counter-intuitive truths doubles the size of the universe. I like that. THE USES OF NOT by Lao Tzu from Tao Te Ching Thirty spokes Meet in the hub, Where the wheel isn't Is where it's useful. Hollowed out, Clay makes a pot. Where the pot's not Is where it's useful. Cut doors and windows To make a room. Where the room isn't, There's room for you. So the profit in what is Is in the use of what isn't.

Good work, Iowa

Really excited about these two... come on New Hampshire! My faith is my life - it defines me. My faith doesn't influence my decisions, it drives them. ... Real faith makes us humble and mindful, not of the faults of others, but of our own. I ask you to believe - not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington. I'm asking you to believe in yours.
