Traveling with the Australian Spirit Association we had our share of downshifting with the Aussies and their many Architectural-points-of-great To explain the rather bizarre schedule, we're a company of 26 performers (cheerleaders and dancers), two coaches, and six chaperons. The girls on our team vary in age; our youngest (most talented and adorable) members are only 8 years old! I'm confident that we will be thoroughly entertained by anything that comes our way so definitely let me know if you have any ideas. The rough outline of our plans, consists of various performances and clinics, plus a few tours with the entire program. We arrive early June 14 and performances are set to end at 1:30 pm. Like one-third of our college, I transferred into the Business School in my second semester (following a short stint toward the field of Journalism). Like most McCombs students, I also entered with an obnoxious level of ambition, and am exiting with rather high expectations and high standards. There's no shortage of evidence that good ideas encourage the good relations and stamina to make things happen. The prestige of education is acknowledged by corporations world-wide and attracts recruiters from some of the 'best companies' in the world. The company of brilliantly talented artists at SXSW, many of whom (many of the brightest) will be forever hidden from the masses, has spurred a lot of thoughts about collective judgment. Add more people to street corner, more people will stop. There are ways to take advantage of the power of imitation but the problem is, we are all so bad at seeing and hearing wrong in our own ideas. When everyone is imitating, you can't tap into knowledge anyone has. What's really going on gets blurred in the masses. New things emerge constantly, reaching for our time and attention. We've gotta take time to pause, observe, absorb, and let things surface by design. Filtering only what 'strikes us' will eventually unveil a mystery that's tailored to our being, and worth its brewing time in milliseconds.
